I know that I have told you guys some of what I do here. But it is always changing. That is one thing that AIM is really good at. From what I have seen. You need to be able to be flexible. The other interns and I have a joke about how AIM is jello. It can be put into many different shapes, flavors, it changes. When a change happens we all look at each other and say “AIM is jello”. Now because of change I have had many jobs in the office. First I started with Alumni and mobilizing. Then it was just Alumni stuff. Now its Support Raising.
My current title is Support Raising Coach. I help all of the participant with support raising. I help them get their support letters out. I give them encouragement with the process. I think that fact that I have been support raising for a while now helps me with this. No I am no expert. Actually when Vicki gave me the job I wondered why me. I really am not that good at it. But Robin who I work with and I have decided that this is a great job for me. It will give me a chance to learn all about support raising which will help me in the future with my own.
So a normal day in the office for me looks like the following. I get there. Check my email answer all emails. At AIM we return all emails and all phone calls. Then I will check my mailbox and see how much paper work I have. The paper work is just who needs what email and how far they are in the admission process. I email out what I need to do. All of that could take anywhere form an hour to maybe most of the day. Then I have side projects that I work on while waiting for more paperwork and emails. Some of the side projects are making DVDs that the participant s can show their supporters about where they are going, A book that we are making with all of our locations in it, prayer cards for the participants to hand out to supporters. All of these are to help them in the support Raising process.
That is basically what I do in the office. There is more to what I do here in Gainesville but that will have to come at a later time. So keep reading my blogs to see more of what my life is like here in Gainesville.
That wasn’t bad. In fact it was very good.
