Hi everyone. I am in my second day of my spring break. I  find myself sitting in the common room at The Bridge in Topeka KS. My bible study and I  are here on a mission trip during a time when everyone else is going to flordia or back home. It has been an amazing 4 days.

We left really early on Saturday and drove (well Tom did) or rode for about 16 hours. It was a great time of fellowship. There was napping, singing, screaming, and so much else in our sweet 15 passenger van.

Sunday we were able to go to church at a non-instrumental Chruch of Christ and experience that. They provided a pot-luck dinner for us all and then we hid Easter eggs for the children of the church and got to watch them find them. Then we got to find the extras. That afternoon we got a tour of Topeka. We saw the capital building, Brown vs Board of Edu. historical site (which we later visited), library, the whole city from on top of a hill and so much more.

Monday was a big day. In the morning I got to work with Twila and organize bookshelves and dust/clean lights in the church. It was great. And that was just the morning. In the afternoon just like today and again tomorrow I helped with the after school program here at the bridge. It is great. There are nine of us and nine kids so we each get a buddy. Mine is Isyss (Icees). She is in the 4th grade. The exciting part for me is that 8 of them are Black. After we walked them home on Monday I was ready to go back to Africa and see my kids. I can tell that my heart is attracted to that race. Don’t get me wrong I love all kids but black ones hold a special place in my heart.

This morning we raked a lot. First at a school near by then at the bridge. I was great. I haven’t done that in quite a while and my arms couldn’t figure out what I was doing to them. Then again like Monday we had the after school program. Such a good time.

I promise I will write more specifics/stories when I get back to MI. I just wanted to let you all know what I am up to on my spring break. I hope that you are all having a great week. I will try to enjoy this sun and 70 degree weather for each of you back in MI.
