I have the pictures that I promised. I am so sorry that it is so much later than what I wanted. Training camp went well. Our team defiantly learned how to serve with out complaint. We learned how to get along at 5am. Well there wasn’t to much interaction at 5am. I learned that no one on our team is a morning person. That Georgia gets really hot and the red clay still sticks to everything. Also that I have a big year ahead of me with lots of growth and discovery, I am both excited and scared for it. I know that this is where Christ wants me. I have already had moments and run-ins that have confirmed that.
Training camp– We were serve team so we got to help out the participants and the leaders by serving them in whatever they needed. We mostly did the dishes, filled water coolers, helped prep for dinner, took care of the trash and other small things so that the camp would run a lot smoother. Also in that week we learned 4 drimes. Those are dramas to music. They were a little hard to learn but fun. We are going to teach them to our youth group kids. At training camp also I was blessed to talk to the JBay FYMers about JBay. I am so excited for them and cant wait to read their blogs to hear all the stories of how they are helping to change and bring Christ to Jeffrey’s Bay South Africa.
Church– I have gone to Lanier Hills Church now for two weeks. We are going to get to work with the youth group there and help get their Youth building looking and working better. They want us to run a café and help with the small groups on Sunday morning. I am super excited to be a part of this. It is something that I haven’t had a lot of experience doing but cant wait to see how it brings the leader out in me.
Work- We started in the office yesterday. Lots of learning and information. We will be working on mobilizing future participants and helping to revamp some of the processes to mobilize. We were a little overwhelmed but I think that once we get in and start working we will get the hang of it.
Praises– Jakkie, a friend in Jeffrey’s Bay from last year, is 90% healed of HIV. We prayed for him all year and were stepping out in faith and believeing that he was healed when we were in Swazi. And he was. It makes me smile so much. Jakkie is an amazing person who you can tell really loves Christ and wants to grow closer to him. My sister is going great at college. Its her freshmen year and it sounds like she is loving it.
News– We are moving apartments. Both and Guys and the Girls. We are going to be in the same building after the move. All of us are excited about this. Not looking forward to the actual move but to the after results.
Prayer requests– Our team needs to learn to communicate calmly. We are an intense group of people. We always seems to raise of voice and more that one person is always talking at once. So it needs a little bit of help. Also prayer would be great for our one-on-one discipleship. We meet our disciplers on Thursday. I just want to be able to be as open as possible with mine and get as much out of it as I want. This year the areas I want to grow in are leadership, bible knowledge, conflict resolution. Leadership is the big one that I want to grow in. Prayer is greatly welcomed on that topic.
