This weekend our family and lots of other headed up north in Michigan to Mackinaw. It’s a tradition for our family when we have exchange students.  So when we decided to have students we reserved our spots. The weekend started with setting up camp in the dark and rain and ended with breaking down camp before it started to rain. We made record time. Rain was present for quite a bit of our weekend. The sun barely came out.

Saturday we headed to the Island for a day of bike riding and sightseeing. Because the weather was poor there weren’t too many people out and about. Which made it nice. We all rode around the island had a picnic lunch on the beach then split up for a bit. My sister, Kt, and i biked some of the inner trails. After getting fudge and the normal Ice cream we headed back to mainland. After biking back to camp we cooked dinner and relaxed around the fire and introduced the boys to S’mores.

Sunday was a relaxing day. After making pancakes, bacon and fried eggs over an open fire we went into town and walked thru shops. Then, to a park and viewed the bridge then headed over to the Boley’s cabin. The Boley’s are a couple in town who host exchange students too. We threw a Frisbee, kayaked and had a bonfire.  It was a good time and it was great to meet their girls. i think all the students enjoyed meeting each other so that they know someone else for the first day of school.

We didn’t end up walking the bridge (because of rain) but we did have a good weekend over all I believe. It was good to get to know my brothers a little better. It will be a fun year with them in the family.
