Just got back to Jeffrey's from being in Summerset East for Beat the Drum. Beat the Drum is an Aids/HIV awareness and prevention program that teaches abstinence. It is based of the movie Beat the Drum and has 5 lessons that go with it that teaches about values, love and lust, and truths about Aids.
Our whole team plus other teams from Jeffrey's (LXP, MXP) and other groups came together to minister to the kids of Summerset east. We left Friday and drove 3 hours east to the little town and the base of the mountains, called Summerset East. We were then signed in and thrown into this thing. Lots of icebreakers were played so that everyone could get to know each other. There were about 100 of us. The first night was all about getting to know our teams and what the week will look like.
I was on the Johnson School team. We were given the whole school to teach. Which was awesome. So on Monday we showed the movie to the whole school at the same time in 3 different rooms. It was awesome. We then started teaching the 5 lessons. I taught with Godfrey. He is an LXPer in Cape Town. So the rest of the week we taught our grade 11 class. The Lord did a lot in that class with those students. I will tell you more in the next blog.
