It’s been a year since I was in Africa.
This Friday will be the end of my first year back at school.
And In a year I will be done with culinary and looking to use it on the mission field.
I remember the days when a year seemed like forever. But these days it seems to just fly by. So much has happened in this past year. I have…
written three big papers. You can read these in prior blogs.
driven hours back and forth, school to home, to see family for the holidays.
been blessed with great friends and an amazing family up here in Traverse City.
learned how to cook.
traveled to Spain, France, Italy, The Caribbean, China, Thailand, Vietnam. Well in the comfort of the kitchens here at school.
fallen through the Ice. Don’t worry no one was hurt.
spent summer nights with my best friend cleaning.
gone to the beach when I could with little Soph.
been Sous Chef for my classes final dinner.
spent a week in Topeka with some of the coolest kids ever. Definitely not a triflin’ time.
spent Christmas and Thanksgiving with Family for the first time in years.
mixed, punched down, proofed and baked lots of bread.
eaten my share of cafeteria food. Looking forward to my own kitchen next year.
learned to sharpen knives.
planned and designed a restaurant.
lost an amazing Aunt. But was so blessed to know her and have my life touched by her.
done front of house at two dinners and only dropped a knife.
learned how to life for Jesus in the real world (aka not the mission field I’m use to).
watched sunsets with great friends over lake Michigan.
apartment shopped.
lived in the dorms.
painted a duplex.
painted childhood bedroom.
experienced community outside of the mission field.
picked peaches, blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries.
ran up sleeping bear three times.
made a snowman and snow angle for the first time in years.
watched a puppy grow up.
made Christmas cookies after Christmas with my sister.
had it confirmed to me that I am meant for mission work with kids.
thought about Africa everyday.
Now I know that way more happened but that is just a look at what this past year has been like. And I know there is just as much in store for next year. Saturday I start my internship for the summer and late June/July my family is going to China to visit my sibling over there. I am also blessed to be in a wedding of two amazing friends.
Please pray that I can be a light in my internship this summer and that I will get time to relax and enjoy family and friends this summer.
Thank you for keeping up with me. I know that Traverse City Michigan doesn’t always seem as exciting and fascinating as South Africa but it is where the Lord has me.
love you all,
Becca
