New York City has a lot of things all smooshed together. Last Monday we
toured it. We started in Time square where we saw larger than life
M&Ms, tons of signs and billboards, Candy Wrapper cloths designed
my the Next Top Models, and much more.
From
there we took the subway to the bottom of Manhattan. Once on the subway
we realized that we had to be on one of the front 5 cars to get off
where we needed to be. We were on the 9th I believe. So when it stopped
we would all get off and run to the next car and get back on. Yeah we
defiantly looked like tourists. But it was fun. We made it to the 5th
car and were able to get off at out stop. We then rode the Staten
Island Ferry. This way we saw the Statue of Liberty for free. It’s not
really worth going to the island in my opinion anymore because you
can’t go in it. So we ate our lunch on the ferry (Which we packed from
leftovers the lunch before) and on the way back to Manhattan we took
pictures on the city and the statue.
From here we rode the
subway back up towards Time Square. Dave and Vicki’s son Josh marched
in the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. So we headed over to the parade
route. For some reason though it was a little difficult to get to it,
the police had barricades up so that the crowd had only 2 places to get
to the street where the parade was. Well we decided that we didn’t want
to take the hassle or the time to walk 5 or so blocks out of out way so
when we saw others cross the barricade we followed. Yes we crossed a
police line. We felt cool. Again we were total tourists. The parade we
all agreed was the most boring parade ever. Lets say there were a lot
of people in it that we had no idea why they were in it. But when Josh
walked by you can be sure that we were the loudest onlookers. Our goal-
embarrasses him. And I believe that we succeeded. Once Josh passed we
left the parade. We went to a couple shops and made our way to Time
Square again. There we went to the ESPN zone for dinner. Then headed
back to the car. Stopped to take pictures of Time Square at night.
So that was our day in the city. It was long but good. Once to the car we started our drive home.
